After junior running back Nigel Newkirk left the game after what looked like a non-contact injury on the second play of the game, sophomore running back Dwight Lewis stepped in and ran for three touchdowns to propel the Red Elephants. Quarterback Kharim Hughley threw for a touchdown and ran for a touchdown.

The Gainesville defense dominated the Rome offense. The Wolves did not score a touchdown on Thursday.

It was a strong performance from the Red Elephants in what has been a chaotic month.
